Nomads Fraser 3d/2n ex Noosa tour departs from and returns to beautiful Noosa Heads and includes two nights’ accommodation at Nomads Noosa and two nights camping at Cathedrals on Fraser campsite ( 4 share tents) , situated a stone’s throw from the Pacific Ocean on Fraser Island.
After an action packed day exploring the island, guests will enjoy a "glamping" experience at Catherdals on Fraser. The new heavy duty tents are based on decks with full lighting, facilities include hot showers and two campfires.
We also offer the option of booking your customer into the lead car with one our guides for a fully guided experience at no additional charge. This alternative would suit those wanting to find out more about the Island, its history, fauna and flora (subject to availability, must be advised at time of booking)
What’s included :
Alcohol: We advise to purchase all your alcohol at the campsite bottle shop on Fraser Island. The campsite has the cheapest prices on Fraser Island for alcohol. The advantages are it is cold when you buy it and you can put it straight in the fridge and there is no chance of breakage before getting it to camp (Which happens a lot due to the rough roads)
Food: All main meals are provided as well as some snack items. The campsite shop sells a great range of snacks if you wish to purchase any extra while on Fraser Island.
Security Bond: A $100 cash security bond will be collected on arrival at Rainbow Beach. Please ensure you have cash with you, there will not be any ATM’s to use in Rainbow Beach. Your bond will be given back to you in cash at the end of your tour providing the vehicles are returned without damage.
DAY 1– Arrive to Noosa and check in at Nomads Noosa at 44 Noosa Drive . You must arrive before 6pm to attend a compulsory pre-tour briefing held at Nomads KB’s Bar where you meet your fellow travellers and learn more about your Fraser Island tour. Safety is paramount and this is when you find out about do’s and don’ts , driving tips ,and nominated drivers will be required to complete required liability and insurance forms. All passengers are required to attend the briefing to be allowed to travel to the Island the next day.
Overnight– Nomads Noosa
DAY 2– The group departs Noosa by bus at 7:30 am and head towards Rainbow Beach ( 1.5– 2 hours drive). Please be waiting for the bus at Nomads reception by 7:30 am. If you miss the bus you will miss the tour. Please ensure you have checked out of your room and have both your Fraser luggage and your main luggage with you. We stop at Rainbow Beach to inspect and collect the vehicles, hand signed rental agreements, pay $100 cash bond and to collect food and we’re on our way to the Island. We then take a barge from River Heads and land at Hook Point on the Southern tip of Fraser Island approximately 10 min later. Depending on the weather, and the tide your guide will assess whether it is safe to travel on the beach or if we need to select an alternative route to our next destination– The Southern Lakes. We first stop at Lake Boomanjin for a swim and a walk, then continue on to Lake Birrabeen where we have our lunch ( Wraps and salad). After a relaxing break, it is time for a rainforest track to walk off our lunch and explore the Island’s unique flora and hopefully spot some wildlife too ! We then drive to Central Station on the way to our Cathedrals campsite, arriving at around 5:30pm. After a refreshing shower, it’s dinner time (BBQ– steak/chicken& salads) and time to enjoy a hot shower and a night around the campfire.
Overnight– Cathedrals on Fraser (camping) , Fraser Island
DAY 3– Another early start to make most of our time on the Island ! After breakfast (continental style breakfast - cereal, toasts, spread, tea& coffee), we drive up Eli Creek, the largest freshwater creek on the Eastern Coast of the Island , which carves its way through to the beach and pours 8 million litres of water a day into the Pacific Ocean ! There are number of walkways, and a short circular route that runs up one side of the creek and down the other. From there we head up to the famous Maheno Shipwreck, the most famous of the Fraser Island wreck driven ashore during a cyclone in 1935. From there we continue north to Coloured Sands comprising of 72 different colours of sand. Next stop is the Pinnacles,a natural wonder of Fraser Island made up of multicoloured sand cliffs. We stop here for lunch ( sandwiches, salads) and a break before driving up to Indian Heads , a large rocky headland, great for shark spotting ! and finally Champagne Pools , a popular swimming hole with the ocean crashing over the rocks into shallow sandy pools. After an action-packed day we head back to our accommodation at Cathedrals campsite for a dinner ( spaghetti bolognese )
Overnight– Cathedrals on Fraser (camping), Fraser Island
DAY 4- Our last day on the Island ! Today, after breakfast (continental style breakfast, tea& coffee) we travel to Lake Wobby , the deepest lake on the Island ( 11.4 m ! ) and Lake MC Kenzie , famous for its clear blue water and sandy beach, covering more than 150 hectares and five meters in depth. After lunch ( wraps, salads) it is time to leave . We depart the Island at approximately 2:30pm , stop at Rainbow Beach to drop off our vehicles, collect bond and drive by bus back to Noosa arriving at around 5pm, just in time for the exclusive post-tour party at KB's
